So, I've done some things recently, that I had really good intentions of writing about, but I just never got around to it.. Okay, I don't get around to most things in my life. Stop judging me.
Let's just go back a month and discuss some spiffy things that have happened, shall we? We shall.
1- I GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL. K, yes, I know, technically I already wrote a post about this.. But that was before the actual thing happened. I often get the question, "How was graduation?" and my answer every time is, "Long.." Yup. Sums up graduation. Long, and really really hot. But now I have cute pictures, so hey, there's always a bright side.
how cute are my best friends though??
(this one isn't from high school graduation.. it's from seminary graduation, which is a miracle, but I think we're adorable, so here's another picture)
2- for the month of June, my best friend and I took a month off social media. Thanks to this video. I'm gonna shoot straight with you guys on this one, it was seriously one of the greatest things that I've ever done. I'm not kidding, I'm not exaggerating. Okay fine.... maybe I'm exaggerating a little. BUT NOT A LOT. It was great to wake up in the morning, and not first thing go to my phone. (which is another major reason I decided to take a month off.. I really hate that habit). Honestly, I didn't miss social media one bit. I mean, not to offend anyone, but I really could not care less about what you have to tweet. And I think it's a little ridiculous that twitter and instagram have become such big importants (it makes sense in ASL, just handle the bad english) in our lives. So, when I did get my social media back, I unfollowed everyone from high school. And let me tell ya.. That felt freaking fantastic. I think I'm following 30 people on twitter right now. And I only check my social media accounts about once a day.. if that.
the point i'm trying to make is: SOCIAL MEDIA IS LAME (and here I sit blogging.. shut up.)
3- I went to SOAR. (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration) In other words, I'm a true business (again, it makes sense in ASL) college student with a student ID, and roommates, and tuition to pay, and a dorm to live in. WHAT THE EVEN HECK.
4- I attended my last youth conference ever.. as a youth that is. Now, last year, I was convinced that it was my last year of youth conference, and it almost was. No joke, the day we were leaving for youth conference, I still had no idea if I was going or not. So thank goodness we weren't leaving until 2 in the afternoon! Long story short.. after lots of arguing with my Heavenly Father.... I went. And I'm pretty glad I did. We had the best theme ever. Have you filled a bucket today? aka my new favorite book.. Someone buy it for me haha. But, the thing I want to focus on, is the devotional that was given before testimony. We'll just go through a little highlight reel.
"Not even He will get in the way of you and a choice."
"Believe in it [free agency]. Test it. Try it."
"Young people, choose to serve others...
Young people, choose to pray...
Young people, make sure your actions reflect your faith...
Stop texting and start talking... You can't text your way through life. Young people, monitor your use of technology...
Young people, choose to be cheerful...
Young people, choose to learn."
-- Steve Proctor
And perhaps my favorite quote from all of youth conference-
"This is Jesus. He is my friend. And He loves me."
Safe to say Youth Conference 2K14 was a success.
5- Took a day trip to Flaming Gorge with my favorite individuals.
6- The last item of business I will cover today. I move in 36 short days. Also known as 5 weeks. Okay, five weeks and a day. WHAT NO WHAT. Can I change my mind? I've decided that I don't want to go anymore. I don't wanna pack, and I don't wanna be 2 hours away from everyone I know and love. I don't want to live with 5 other girls that I have never met before. (Shout out to my roommates if y'all are actually reading this... hahaha. I'm actually super stoked to meet you fine ladies :) )
Here's the real issue at hand, I don't want to have to be outside my comfort zone. Which is really an issue because my comfort zone is um.. yeah, really small. BUT, that's where my favorite band (NEEDTOBREATHE) comes in handy. (I love them like a lot. A lot a lot.) (also, roommates, if you're reading this..... you better like them too or things might be rough for the next year)
"If you could soldier on, headstrong into the storm. I'll be here waiting on the other side... 'Cause if you never leave home, never let go, you'll never make it to the great unknown" (I could quote this whole song, but I won't)
DEEP BREATH. Here we go folks. Here's to hoping I don't explode within the next month and half..
The good news is I'm sure it will make for some great writing. Haha. Love y'all. Thanks for reading this hot mess that I like to try and call a blog.
Be nice to people.
xoxo, Sarah
